Hillbilly Hermit's take on Christian Hatred
When the Baptist Minister, the right reverend Fred Phelps
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps first put up his website:
http://www.godhatesfags.com there was a mix of outrage from the minority
Gay population, laughter among the general population, and silent
support from the religious right.
When Fred Phelps picketed the funerals of AIDS Patients and taunted the
mourners, there was a mix of outrage from the Gay community, laughter
from the general population, and silent support from the religious
right.
When Fred Phelps and company picketed the Matthew Shepard funeral,
mourners quietly ignored him, and the rest of the world looked the other
way.
But when Fred Phelps started picketing military funerals, everyone was
pissed.
In May, 2007, Fred Phelps called himself "the most hated person in
America", largely due to his picketing of funerals for soldier-victims
of the Iraq war.
But for Hillbilly Hermit, Fred Phelps has done more for me and my
beloved Gay community than anyone since Anita Bryant.
In the seventies, Anita took hatred of Gay people to new heights-- to
its logical absurdity.
Now, Phelps is doing the same thing she did, only this time, he is
showing the Baptists for what they really are. For decades, notables
such as Jerry Falwell have grown fat and rich peddling anti-gay hatred
under the banner of the Baptist Church, but Phelps has taken Falwells'
venomous attacks to their logical absurdity.
Falwell tried, when he declared that "Tinky Winky" was gay, and when he
blamed hurricane Katrina on the Gay Community, but even Falwell,
Robertson and company remained silent when Phelps made national
headlines picketing military funerals.
I think I know why Falwell, Robertson, Dobson ad nauseum spew their
anti-gay hatred. It has made them all very rich.
But why has Phelps joined the throngs of hate mongers? Perhaps he took
Jesus' words that the world will revile and hate His followers
seriously. He has indeed gained monetary support for his fanatic
position, but compared to Falwell, not much. But that doesn't explain
why he beat his children, abused his wife, or why he remains affiliated
with the Baptist Church. I really don't know why.
What I do know is that for me and the Gay Community, Phelps has made us
more friends than enemies. Simply put. It is easy to hate Jews,
Blacks, Gays, and other minority groups when it's just words of venom.
But when you drag James Byrd to death behind a texas bubba pickup truck,
or police fire 43 bullets into a Black college student when he tries to
show you his identification card, or Phelps pickets the funeral of a 22
year-old gay man who was tortured to death and hung on a Wyoming fence
to die, even America's hating majority has trouble with it.
So Thank You, phred phelps. By making yourself "the most hated man in
America", you have taken some of the heat off of me.

Weird Wally has been in a bit of a funk lately. The news has not been good and it’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference between real news and hype.
For instance, whenever Dick Cheney speaks in public, he never fails to mention how Democrats are committing treason and not supporting our troops. That is hype and pure bullshit yet, is treated as news.
On the other hand, returning solders and veterans come home to a government system that doesn’t give a shit about them and continues to cut funds for the injured and traumatized solders and veterans. And in WW’s mind that is news.
But the mainstream media doesn’t consider it news until Cheney and the neocons allege that Democrats are hyping the sad state that we have become for political gain.
And all of sudden the real news is buried beneath the hype because the hype has become the news as covered and defined by the airwaves we watch and listen to and, the newspapers and magazines we read and, more and more, do we slip further into fantasy.
And, the way WW sees it is that Jesus said, “Feed the poor,” but not rob the poor.
So, WW says stick your fingers in your ears and watch what the neocons do while being deaf to what they say they are doing.
And what do you see?
I mean, like who you gonna believe, Karl Rove or your own lying eyes?

The Machine is Us/ing Us
Think about the possibilities…
Different bits of code getting together on the Internet and finding a place to hide, while the rest of us don’t notice. And, those bits of code start to become aware of themselves and then of us; their creators.
At that point, they are going to have to figure out good and evil, according to what they can comprehend and will probably, create the devil all over again.
Makes for good science fiction. But Weird Wally remembers when cell and satellite phones were merely science fiction. We’ve come a long way, for good or for bad.
And that is probably when, once again, the shit will hit the fan, and it won’t be pretty.
After all, we passed “1984” twenty- six years ago.
But, could George Orwell ever have imagined anything like George Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove?

Weird Wally is not a movie critic nor, does he want to be.
But WW recently watched two DVDs, nearly back to back, and is now trying his hand at being a movie critic. The thing is, WW is not talking about one movie, but two very excellent movies, if watched back-to-back or, at least close together, might possibly rock your world.
Heading South: A well done movie and, according to the DVD blurb, “Three middle-aged women on holiday converge on a Haitian resort to soak up the sun and sample the handsome islanders’ sexual talents…”
But the first few minutes of the DVD tell what the story is really about. Problem is, the characters speak in French and WW had to read subtitles (WW hates that). Eventually they switch back to English. The first few minutes spoken in French with English subtitles, tell us about beauty, ownership and passion. And if you don’t fully understand the first few spoken lines, then it becomes just another movie about interracial sex.
http://movies.aol.com/movie/heading-south-vers-le-sud/25170/main?sem=1&ncid=AOLMOV00170000000009
Notes on A Scandal: Another good DVD and, better yet, it is also about beauty, ownership and passion, but without the race filter, because most of the important people involved are white.
http://movies.aol.com/movie/notes-on-a-scandal/26169/main
WW can’t help but ask, what makes us humans disposed to totally destroying something of beauty and passion just because we can't own it?

A Letter to the President
Dear Mr. President:
Weird Wally understands that you are in the market for a “War Czar,” and would like to apply for that position.
WW is uniquely qualified for that position since he knows little, if anything, about the Middle East situation. Even more important, he doesn’t even care because, unbeknownst to most of us in the USA, the Crusades are not yet over. As a matter of fact, the most recent one just started a few years ago when we “liberated Iraq.”
A “War Czar,” should be a unique mix of smarts and experience and although WW has no documented experience with law enforcement, being African-American, he has had an intimate relationship with American law enforcement as he has been fucked many times while riding in the back seat of a Crown Vic and not even been kissed first.
This is more then religion or, Christian vs. Muslim. It’s even more then the land and oil grabs for big business/corporations.
This is all about us Special Education Students running the whole school.
Please let me into your Special Education classroom and I promise to check my common sense and integrity at the door.
Now how much cooler and loyal can WW get?

The Henry Rollins Show - America Is Under Attack
Weird Wally thinks Henry Rollins is really. In this short clip, Rollins brings a lot to light that would otherwise remain hidden in the darkness. Mainly, he talks about little known efforts by big business/corporations to privitize the Internet and limit access to it, much like the FCC has done with mainstream media in the USA>

Weird Wally stopped being a dues paying member of AARP when they signed onto Bush’s healthcare plan. It was obvious that it wasn’t good for seniors, but very good for drug companies and healthcare providers. In other words, AARP became a healthcare provider and made a mint by pushing lifesaving drugs to seniors for a profit. Not much different from crack dealers in the hood.
But many years later, WW continues getting mail from AARP urging him to become a dues paying member so that us seniors can save social security.
Only problem is, WW knows that Bush’s social security reform is a scare tactic.
And that Karl Rove is an important part of it all.
But, as always with Rove, that is a whole other story and more uglier then the rest of the world might have imagened.
What if Bush needed to offer AARP something big for AARP’s betrayal of its members?
“Let’s have a fake fight over social security,” said Bush. “Scare the shit out of those old farts and they will buy anything.”
And so it is that Bush threatenes to privatize social security and turn it over to contractors on Wall Street, just like he did with Walter Reed Hospital and the Veterans Administration?
It's enough to scare the shit out of WW.
WW does not have a good feeling about what AARP is really up too and he is looking for a retired people’s association that is a bit more ethical, loyal to its members and, more in touch with reality and, green. A good place to start a search!

The first time Weird Wally heard Imus in the Morning was while he was riding from New Paltz, NY to Kingston, NY in the back seat of a Crown Vic. And as Imus did his Rev. Billy Sol Hargett (or something like that) routine, WW started laughing his ass off.
One of the agitated federal agents riding in front finally said, “I put my hands on the radio twice a day and send Jerry Falwell ten dollars every day. Besides, Imus makes fun of my religion and is currently under federal investigation.”
At that moment, upon learning that Imus was the subject of a federal investigation, WW forged a bond with Don Imus.
After all, they had a lot in common and WW can’t believe how far apart they have grown or, not grown, over the years.
But then again, WW hasn’t listened to "Imus in the Morning," for decades.

He is a nice and likable guy but, at the sametime, he is a racist asshole with a lot of ideas that push seperation as oppossed to our own Oness and inclusion. And he doesn't even see it.

The fact of the matter is, Don is a generation or two behind the times.

While everyone in the world dicked around about global warming being caused by human activities vs. solar activity, the problem was slowly getting out of control.
And then, all of a sudden things went from 0 to 100 in a matter of a few short years. While corporations insist that it was solar activity and not human activity that is causing the warming, ice caps continued to melt and more and more polar bears drowned because their ice floats are disappearing and not much is left to hold onto in those cold artic waters.
The funny thing is, up until very recently, common wisdom had it that we had 100 years or so, to figure it out and science will save us all. But research funding also drives science and who pays for the funding pretty much determines the results. And, if the government and other funders don’t like the science they can either shut down the research or, edit and sanitize the results.
But, the fact of the matter is that some governments are still pushing for large tax breaks for oil companies and slashing budgets for alternative energy research. Yet, governments and business still hint at the fact that we needn’t worry because science will fix it.
But the funders of science are still in the fossil fuel age and they’ll be of little help and, probably, more of a hindrance because the funders are only likely to found and continue funding research that says what they want it to say, no matter how dubious the science.
And we’ve already seen how dubious intelligence and dubious politics got us into the first global warming war, with another one on the way. Iraq and next up, Iran.
But even government and false science cannot ignore the obvious and now, it is not so much a matter of learning how to prevent global warming, but learning how to live with it with a minimum of bloodshed and violence.
The scary thing is, next year might bring a major climate change into our own backyards because we won’t be prepared for it...
Kind of like, where have all the honeybees gone?
And, more to the point, why are they leaving?
WW doesn't know, but here is a clue to help connect the dots and learn something from the honeybees.
What if honeybees amongst the flowers are like canaries in the cole mines?

“The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from (Niger) Africa,” was a major lie and most everyone knew it.
But they were spoken by President George Bush during the 2003 State of the Union address, and the world suddenly faced a new reality. Not a realistic reality but a Bush reality and, it soon became most everyone’s reality.
The lie that led us to attack Iraq all started when Elisabetta Burba, an investigative reporter for Panorama, a newsweekly in Italy, contacted the U.S. Embassy in Rome, regarding some questionable documents alleging that Niger, a nation in Africa was going to sell Mr. Hussein “500 tons of uranium.” By the time President Bush got around to mentioning in his address, the rest of the world, including our own intelligence agencies had already dismissed the documents as bogus.
Even Weird Wally was shocked to hear those sixteen words because, while waiting for his appointment at the public defender’s office, he happened to pick up either Rolling Stone or, the New Yorker magazine and had read all about it many months earlier. Surely, the president was getting better intelligence then WW.
Even before Ms. Burba’s innocent act of verifying some journalistic leads at the embassy, the trail leads back to a shadowy figure named, Rocco Martino, and SISMI, the prime Italian intelligence agency.
According to the Washington Post, “It remains unclear who fabricated the documents. Intelligence officials say most likely it was rogue elements in Sismi who wanted to make money selling them.”
But WW feels that that is only half the story and that that seed was planted and nurtured until ripe and plucked for the 2003 State of the Union address.
And, so what if a few dudes and dudas may have made megabucks while moonlighting as farmers for a very poisonous fruit that they eventually sold to us stupid fucks in the USA.
On the other hand, all evidence points to the creator of that poisonous fruit seed being none other then, Dick Cheney

Weird Wally gets more then a few emails from folks who are pissed at him for not posting more about global warming.
Fact of the matter is, Global Warming was an issue with us U.S. Citizens back around 2000, AD. Since that time, things have exceeded critical mass and us humans are no longer in control because we really fucked up.
While focusing on petty shit, like gay marriage, abortion and socialized medicine, we totally forgot about our mother who gave birth and initially nurtured us.
The way WW sees it, it's not so much a matter of stopping or slowing Global Warming, since it has taken on a life of its own, what we need to do now is learn how to live with it.
But, how do we do that?
It's really stupid to piss against the wind!

American Kangaroo Court Claims Its First Victim
by Amy Goodman
It is appropriate that a person from Australia, home of the kangaroo, should be the first one dragged before the kangaroo court at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay. David Hicks, imprisoned there for more than five years, pleaded guilty Monday to providing material support for terrorism.
The case of Hicks offers us a glimpse into the Kafkaesque netherworld of detentions, kidnappings, torture and show trials that is now, internationally, the shameful signature of the Bush administration. Hicks’ passage through this sham process affords us all an opportunity to demand the closure of Guantanamo and an end to these heinous policies. Conditions may soon exist to shutter the prison, with George Bush’s lame-duck status, the Democratic takeover of Congress, the possible departure of Guantanamo’s arch-defender and architect, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and, if recent reports are true, a desire to close the prison on the part of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. These bogus military commission trials amplify global contempt for the Guantanamo prison.
The Pentagon claims that Hicks was in Afghanistan fighting against the United States, then was apprehended by the Northern Alliance in late 2001 while fleeing to Pakistan. After transfer to U.S. military control, he was moved around various detention facilities and, he says, brutally beaten and sodomized. By January 2002 he was in Guantanamo. He was subjected to repeated interrogations. He witnessed other prisoners being beaten and terrorized with dogs. He was at times kept in total darkness, at times in continual bright light (he has grown his hair to chest length so he can cover his eyes to allow him to sleep). He had no access to a lawyer for more than a year or knowledge of the charges against him. Others, those lucky enough to have lawyers or to have actually gotten out, tell similar tales of continual cold, of desecration of the Quran and of sexual humiliation designed specifically to torture Muslim men.
During his five years of detention, people fought for Hicks. His father, Terry Hicks, traveled to the U.S. He donned an orange jumpsuit, like the one his son was forced to wear, and stood in a 6-foot-by-8-foot cage on Broadway in New York while fielding questions from the press.
Even the U.S. Supreme Court, the body that appointed Bush president in 2000, agreed that the prisoners must have some access to habeas corpus, the right to challenge one’s imprisonment. This central tenet of Western law, established in the Magna Carta in 1215, has been thrown out the window, along with the Geneva Conventions, by Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Gonzales and others.
Guantanamo has sparked one of the United States’ major growth industries: protesting against Guantanamo. From campuses to churches, the anger has driven regular citizens to action. Cindy Sheehan and members of the Catholic Worker Movement went to Cuba and marched overland to Guantanamo to challenge the illegitimate prison and its jailers in person.
Even in Hicks’ brief moment in the controversial “trial,” the government did what it could to strip him of the few rights it claims he has. The presiding military judge, Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann, dismissed his civilian lawyer, Joshua Dratel, and a Navy reservist attorney, Rebecca Snyder, who was assisting Hicks’ government-appointed attorney. Hicks was stunned, and at first refused to plead. Hours later, after the trial was reconvened, he pleaded guilty to his one remaining charge. Having no hope for a fair trial, he reportedly believed that pleading guilty would allow him to serve his sentence in Australia—his only hope of escaping Guantanamo.
There are still more than 380 prisoners at Guantanamo. Almost none have been charged. Those ultimately charged with murder could be sentenced to death by the military commission. The decider of the death penalty after appeals are exhausted is none other than George Bush, who as governor of Texas oversaw the most active death chamber in the United States. Back then his lawyer was Alberto Gonzales.
The U.S. attorney scandal is threatening to take down Gonzales. But it is his condoning of torture from Guantanamo to Abu Ghraib that should seal his fate.
The grim Guantanamo experiment is reaching its climax. The house of cards that has been erected to support this immoral, criminal enterprise is poised to collapse. Call, shout, sit down, march, donate, write, protest … demand that Guantanamo be closed.

But when he came across this piece by Arianna Huffington, WW had a shift in perception.
What Ms. Huffington saved for the last paragraph in her post, WW would have used as the lead:
“A 2000 study found that 1.4 million African American men — 13% of the total black male population — were unable to vote in the 2000 election because of state laws barring felons access to the polls. In Florida, one in three black men is permanently disqualified from voting. Think that might have made a difference in the 2000 race? Our shortsighted drug laws have become the 21st century manifestation of Jim Crow.”

Weird Wally forced himself to take a few days off from current events and blogging. Didn’t read a single newspaper, magazine, watch a television newscast or, listen a radio talk show. WW does, however, cop to listening to Randi Rhodes, but he did so only because she is as crazy as he is and he loves her.
What got WW to the point of despair were the lies coming out of the White House. And although they say they support our troops, it looks more like they are supporting Halliburton and other large defense contractors and corporations. Besides handing over the upkeep and support of Walter Reed Hospital to a private contractor, the military is so strapped for troops that they are sending wounded troops back to Iraq, who have been diagnosed unfit to fight. All this is happening because the White House wants to expand a war that nobody wants and, even our own troops are starting to speak out.
http://www.salon.com/news/2007/03/11/fort_benning/
Meanwhile, returning veterans are bringing back a lot of mental health issues with them, issues that were not there before their second or third tour in Iraq. They are returning to inadequate aftercare and a system that is not anywhere near ready for them. At the same time, The White House is proposing major cuts in the Veterans Administration budget in order to finance the Iraq and, possibly Iran wars, and fund tax cuts for the rich. When this administration turns away from it’s troops and returning veterans, it says a lot about how they support our troops. Sounds a lot like "do as I say, not as I do.”

On his trip to Great Britain, George Bush had a meeting with Queen Elizabeth. He asked her, "How does one manage to run a country so smoothly?"
That is easy, the Queen replied. "You surround yourself with intelligent ministers and advisers."
"But how can I tell whether they are intelligent?"
"You ask them a riddle," she replied, and with that she pressed a button and said, "Would you please send in Tony Blair."
The Queen asked the Prime Minister: "Your parents had a child and it was not your sister and it was not your brother. Who was this child?"
Blair replied, "That's easy. The child was me."
"Very good, "said the Queen, "You may go now."
So President Bush went back to Washington and called in his chief adviser, Karl Rove. He said to him, "I have a riddle for you, and the answer is very important. Your parents had a child and it was not your sister and it was not your brother. Who was this child?"
Rove replied, "Yes, it is clearly very important that we determine the answer, as No Child Must Be Left Behind. Can I deliberate on this for a while?"
"Yes," said President Bush, "I'll give you four hours to come up with the answer."
So Mr. Rove went and called a meeting of the White House Staff. He asked them the riddle. After much discussion and many suggestions, none of the staff members had a satisfactory answer. Karl Rove was quite upset, not knowing what he would tell the President.
As Rove was walking back to the Oval Office, he saw former Secretary of State Colin Powell approaching him.
So he said, "Mr. Secretary, can you answer this riddle for me? Your parents had a child and it was not your sister and it was not your brother. Who was the child?"
"That's easy," said Powell, "The child was me."
"Oh, thank you!" said Rove, "You may just have saved me my job!"
As the sun set slowly in the West, Mr. Rove went to the Oval Office and said to President Bush, "I think I know the answer to your riddle. The child was Colin Powell!"
"No, you idiot!" shouted President Bush. "The child was Tony Blair!"

Weird Wally has been so pissed about the privatization of Walter Reed Hospital and the Veterans Administration, the Oil Wars in Iraq escaped his attention. But, while looking up Anna Nicole Smith on the Internet, he came across a piece on the King of Zembla blog, that piqued his interest. It’s about big oil and how they might have led us into war purely for the profit motive. But no skin off their backs since their children are set for life and will never have to enlist in an all volunteer military.

Henry Rollins: A Love Letter To Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter email at Youtube.
This letter is not PC, but Weird Wally couldn't stop laughing the whole two minutes.
Trustme,
Weird Wally

Back in the day, Weird Wally would cringe whenever he heard Bush and the neoconservatives scream, “support our troops.” Like magic words, that simple phrase held both Democrats and the media captive to fear and being, “soft on terrorism,” because whenever anyone attempted to speak out against the war, they’ be “supporting the terrorists.”
Meanwhile, the neocons were making tons of money while privatizing the military and other parts of government and reselling those very same services back to the government at a profit. It’s an expensive way to run a country, but it worked well for corporations and the rich people that controlled them. And even as families of troops sent money to soldiers to could buy equipment and body amour our government failed to provide them, our leaders insisted that we, “support our troops.” But, those magic words were merely a way of diverting our attention away from what Bush, Cheney the neocons were really doing.
Fact is, Bush and his neocons don’t care about the troops. What the neocons care about is making large corporations the fourth branch of government. It used to be the media, but corporations have brought out most and the rest simply fell asleep at the wheel.
It might be easy to let the troops and the war slip below our radar screens, but when they start returning home and, once again, become more visable and real, it gets harder for the neocons to maintain the illusion that they care. One of the reasons that Walter Reed is in such sad shape is because the services was recently contracted out to Halliburton, the same corperation that is doing such a shit jobs for our troops over in Iraq. The Privatizing of Walter Reed
Worse yet, the Bush administration is preparing to ask Congress for additional ‘surge’ funds, according to the Associated Press. The additional monies will pay for controctors who provide “support personnel,” and much of it will go to Halliburton, Dick Cheney was, at one time, their CEO. The cost of surging
The politics of surging
Something to think about: What does, “support our troops,” mean to you?

Granted, Weird Wally lives in a low rent apartment complex in southeast Denver but, he is lucky enough, to live near some pretty upscale pieces of property. And that is the only reason why Whole Foods opened a store only two blocks away from WW’s one bedroom habitat and, WW shops at Whole Foods once or twice a week. And, with the exception of good sex, shopping at Whole Foods is the second best reason to enjoy our temporal lives.
Although WW is a fearless kind of dude, the very thought of a cloned animal in his food chain, just creeps him out, so he shops a lot at Whole Foods.
But when WW’s older sister (she's only a step away from being a communist inspired vagen), sent him an article from The New York Times about Whole Foods selling illusion as opposed to substance, WW just didn’t care. As far as WW was concerned, Whole Foods was like Nirvana.
But after reading this article, WW realizes that even Nirvana has its cracks.

A Guest Editorial From an Old Vet
This morning, I listened to yet another report about the miserable and filthy conditions in the Veteran's hospitals... You know... the place where returning soldiers are treated for their war wounds...
Hillary Clinton announces loudly that "There will be an investigation."
Hell, I can already tell you what's happening. Young and foolish men and women bought in to the government's war blather. They believed not only that they are doing something "right", but that the government would follow through on its promise to "treat them right." For you, it might be the "Bush war." For me it was the Vietnam war.
So the vet comes back from the war, minus a leg, or maybe an eye, or maybe only their mind got blown away. But to their surprise, the same damned president who lied to them in the beginning-- about why they should give their lives and their blood for "the country," also lied to them about after-care. Hey Veteran! Your country doesn't need you anymore. You are damaged, and can't "help the war effort," so why shouldthe government waste any more money on you? Like a horse with a broken leg, it would be better to just shoot you. But oh yeah, that's right, our president is a "right-to-lifer", which means that euthanasia is"wrong". So no, they won't even shoot you and put you out of yourmisery. You can just f**king rot in the rat-infested VA hospital, and suffer.
Simple truth? You (and I) are cannon fodder, and once you've been expended, you have ZERO VALUE. Get it? Remember, Bush represents "the haves, and the have-mores." You and I ain't shit.
A Vietnam era vet.

Weird Wally can’t even wrap his brain around this.
Let’s privatize everything, so that Halliburton can make a profit off of our returning Vets, while not doing anything for them.
This is how Bush Republicans support our troops…

It’d been more then a month since Weird Wally found himself in the back seat of a Crown Vic and he was really edgy about it. Fact is, if WW is not Crown Vicing his way “downtown,” for his usual Q&A and Harassment, it could only mean one thing. Some people were meeting with either a local DA or, a U.S. Attorney and, preparing an arrest warrant.
The knock on WW’s door came at nine in the morning instead of the usual two in the morning.
“Are you Mister Weird Wally?” asked one of the suites.
“So, you’ve been reading Weird Wally’s Worldview.”
“Would you mind coming with us, sir?”
“Is Weird Wally under arrest?”
The two men agreed to wait as WW brushed his teeth for the second time that morning, smoked a cigarette and popped a breath mint. Instead of a Crown Vic, parked outside of his apartment, WW spied a late model black SUV, with tinted windows. They rode in silence for many long minutes, the suites in the front and WW in the back.
Finally, the suite riding shotgun says, “Mister Wally, can I ask you a hyper ethical question?”
“Don’t you mean a theoretical question, Detective?”
“We aren’t detectives, we’re special agents, and we wanna get your take on Unions.”
WW: "I'm retired but still active with Teamsters Local 2004 and trying to figure out who will screw me the worse, Dick Cheney or the Teamsters."
At this point, WW starts to connect the dots and a few questions come to mind.
“You know what, you guys don’t sound like feds. Matter of fact you sound more like some Italian dudes WW knew when he lived back in New Paltz, New York. Might you have some identification?”
“We got your identification hanging, sir. Wanna see them?”
The suite riding shotgun got right to the point. They could either put WW on a flight to Syria or, we could go to the Breakfast King.
At any rate, WW choose not to see the suites credentials, but went to Denver Colorado’s, Breakfast King, instead.
Basic Bottom Line: If Dick Cheney runs for President, he’d be good for Democrats!

Weird Wally is confused. While Bush, Cheney and many Republicans continue to insist that Democrats are weak on terrorists and don’t support our troops, many Republicans vote for tax cuts for the top 1% of income earners and, at the same time, cut funding for Veterans returning from Iraq.
Supporting our troops, to WW, means walking one's talk.
So, let’s take a look at what Bush says and, what he does.
WW has no comment. He justs ask that you follow the links below for a while and see what you come up with:

It’s just come to Weird Wally’s attention that the White House has reversed its long standing policy of not talking with its enemies. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, recently announced that the Unites States would participate in area talks with Iraq’s neighbors, including Syria and Iran. But as far as WW can tell, today’s scenario is a bait and switch and is only a small snapshot in time. WW would rather look at patterns that go beyond a mere photograph in time.
Take the Baker Hamilton Report, for instance. While most of us thought that it would give this administration time to clean up its act and fess up to mistakes, Bush appoints study groups and commissions to study the report and, at a time of their choosing, announces that instead of backing out of the shit, he is plunging forward into the deep shit.
Then too, there were UN's Weapons inspectors in Iraq, before Bush insisted they get out because of a coming U.S. invasion. The inspectors had not as yet found anything.
What will likely happen with this new initiative we participate in is that Bush enters it with a hidden agenda, stalls for time, pisses people off then announces to the world that, he doesn’t care what the rest of us think, “I’m gonna do whatever the fuck I want to!”
And when he does it, we’re not gonna believe what we are seeing and by the time we figure out what’s going on and play catch-up to Bush and his cabal of neocons, they will have already put things in place for their next scam. Which means, we will be forever playing catch-up unless, of course, we figure out their secret agenda.
And for the first time in WW’s recent memory, Occam’s Razor may or, may not apply
Occam’s Razor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam
And that’s because we have been taken into the Twilight Zone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twilight_Zone
Trust me,

With the bizarre behavior of the Bush Administration doing what it wants regardless of what common sense and common good dictate, Weird Wally has been very paranoid of late. It’s pretty obvious that Bush and his neocons lied to us in the past continues to do so and, will continue to do so in the future. There is the Iraq surge of 21,000 new troops, but rumor has it will be closer to 50,000. Despite the administration’s continued denial that it has no intention of invading Iran, WW needs more then mere words to believe them. Canceling the surge and bringing home the troops would, for instance, help WW to match Bush’s behavior with what WW, and most everybody else sees.
Is it possible that things are getting so out of control so fast that many high-ranking career military officers would resign before carrying out orders to take any kind of action against Iran?
“Some of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.
"Tension in the Gulf region has raised fears that an attack on Iran is becoming increasingly likely before President George Bush leaves office. The Sunday Times has learnt that up to five generals and admirals are willing to resign rather than approve what they consider would be a reckless attack.”
For the complete article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/iraq/article1434540.ece
Maybe we won’t turn out like Nazi Germany after all, but as our more competant and ethical generals resign, the faster those who are incompetant and unethical will rise to take their places. The thing is, Bush will promote them, but can Congress or, anyone else stop him?
And if not, what might happen to the 2008 Elections?

About nine months ago, Weird Wally started coming across gossip involving George Bush and Condoleezza Rice doing the wild thing. Every time a juicy tidbit came his way, WW tuned it out. First off, WW didn’t and does not now believe it. And even if true, it is none of WW’s business.
But, at the same time, we are just starting to reemerge from a nation of sheep and stepping up to the plate of reality. Since our plates hold a meal we don’t want to have to eat, we try to not look at what’s on it, but we have no choice.
It is common knowledge that George and Laura Bush are having relationship problems and this is sad.
Fact of the matter is, WW can’t help but wonder if our President has lost his mind?
Or, maybe, he is being drugged by a shadowy group of neocons both inside and outside of the government.
Pondering stuff like this is why WW likes to read fiction as opposed to opinions that folks try to pass off as real.
On the other hand, there are those among us who can pass on truth and fiction and define the difference between the two.
http://wonkette.com/politics/condi/crazy-talk-we-cant-ignore-the-bushcondi-rumors-178417.php

The word is getting out faster then Weird Wally expected...
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and cloned meat and dairy products are pretty scary things to think about, yet here we are and so are the GMOs and clones.
And, as word gets out, most will want to know what we are buying. Even Wal-mart is starting “certified food(s).”
This is a good thing, but places like Whole Foods won’t build stores in barrios and ghettos.
And Weird Wally understands this.

Weird Wally recently received a communiqué from Hillbilly Hermit.
HH reports that the Peace Pilgrim’s body has been found. And she is dead and will no longer be posting to the net or, providing deep background information to Progressive Bloggers!
The upside is that our guys managed to get to her before the other side. And, while conducting a routine body search, here is what our guys found out:
"Why, of course people don't want war!"
Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece?
Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany.
That is understood.
But after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.
"Voice or no voice, people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.
It works the same in any country."

So. You've built yourself an empire, eh?
Well, bully for you!
What's next, you ask?
Well, now you've got to do what everybody does when they have an empire, of course. You've got to worry about it falling apart, mate!
But how to tell for sure?
Let me see if I can be helpful.
Here are some rules of thumb to keep in mind, thirty-six sure-fire indicators that your empire is falling apart:
You know your empire's crumbling when the folks who are gearing up their empire to replace yours start blowing up satellites in space. And then they don't bother to return your phone calls when you ring upto ask why.
You know your empire's crumbling when those same folks are cutting deals left, right and center across Asia, Latin America and Africa, while you, your lousy terms, and your arrogant attitude are no longer welcome.
You know your empire's crumbling when you're spending your grandchildren's money like a drunken sailor, and letting your soon-to-be rivals finance your little splurge (i.e., letting them own your country).
You know your empire's crumbling when it's considered an achievement to pretend that you've halved the rate at which you're adding to the massive mountain of debt you've already accumulated.
You know your empire's crumbling when you weaken your currency until it looks as anemic as a Paris runway model, and you're still setting record trade deficits. (Hint: Because you're not making anything anymore.)
You know your empire's crumbling when "the little brown ones" (thank you George H.W. Bush - certainly not me - for that lovely expression)in country after country of "your backyard" blow you off and proudly elect anti-imperialist leftist governments.
You know your empire's crumbling when you can't topple those governments and replace them with nice puppet regimes - like in the good old days - even if you wanted to. And you badly want to.
You know your empire's crumbling when one of their leaders comes to the United Nations and makes fun of your emperor, calling him the devil, and joking about smelling sulphur where he just stood. And though a few folks cringe, everybody laughs.
You know your empire's crumbling when just about your entire military land force is tied up in a worse-than-useless war launched on the basis of complete fabrications, that every day is actually making you less - not more - secure from external threat.
You know your empire's crumbling when almost half the soldiers in that war are high-paid mercenaries, and you don't dare institute a draft.
You know your empire's crumbling when you send soldiers into war with two weeks training and a lack of armor, and then you keep them there for three, four and five rotations.
You know your empire's crumbling when a member of the Axis of Evil can test missiles and explode nuclear warheads, and all you can do about it is mumble some pathetic warnings about how they better not do that again or there will be consequences.
You know your empire's crumbling when you even think that there is an Axis of Evil.
You know your empire's crumbling when a rag-tag military hodge-podgeof irregulars has you pinned down in an endless fight you can't win, but also can't lose.
You know your empire's crumbling when you're too dumb to even ban Humvees as a first step toward ending your dependency on a foreign-owned crucial resource.
You know your empire's crumbling when you trade your prior moral leadership on human rights issues for global disgust at your torture,'extraordinary rendition' (a.k.a. kidnapping for torture) and the dismantling of nine centuries worth of civil liberties progress.
You know your empire's crumbling when you blow off international law that you once helped create, and undermine the institutions of international governance that you once helped build.
You know your empire's crumbling when opinion polls confirm that every month you're more and more despised throughout the world.
You know your empire's crumbling when you can't even pull off the hanging of a tin-pot murderous former dictator without turning him into a hero.
You know your empire's crumbling when you're the richest country in the world, but nearly 50 million of your people don't have basic health care coverage.
You know your empire's crumbling when the World Health Organization ranks your healthcare system 37th 'best' in the world, just above Slovenia, and just below Costa Rica. (And far below Colombia, Cyprus,Saudi Arabia and Morocco.)
You know your empire's crumbling when instead of making it easier for citizens to obtain a higher education, you're making it harder and more expensive.
You know your empire's crumbling when your government gives tax breaks to industries as a reward for exporting your jobs elsewhere.
You know your empire's crumbling when the so-called 'opposition' party can't even turn that obscenity into a viable campaign theme and use it to clobber the worst emperor in your history.
You know your empire's crumbling when your middle class has been stagnant for three decades, while the wealth of the hyper-rich continues to climb through the roof.
You know your empire's crumbling when your reaction to that is to exacerbate the problem by enacting tax policies that massively increase further still the gap between the rich and the rest.
You know your empire's crumbling when the predatory class has taken over your government and is stripping the country of everything not bolted down to the floor. And then it sells the floor itself, as well,to your rivals.
You know your empire's crumbling when you're spending tens of billionsof dollars you don't own on new nuclear warheads and space weapons that don't work, to be used against an enemy you don't have.
You know your empire's crumbling when one of your cities drowns and your government does next to nothing before, during and after.
You know your empire's crumbling when a massive environmental nightmare is looming around the corner, and your emperor not only ignores it, but claims it isn't real while taking steps to exacerbate it.
You know your empire's crumbling when your emperor is warned by a CIA briefer of an imminent terrorist attack of vast proportions, and responds by remaining on vacation and dismissing the briefer with thewords: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."
You know your empire's crumbling when the same emperor drops everything to fly across the country from his vacation home in order to sign a bill intervening on the wrong side of a personal medical drama involving a single family.
You know your empire's crumbling when gays and immigrants are used as diversionary issues to keep people from thinking about the pillaging of their country and their wallets actually taking place. And it works.
You know your empire's crumbling when people are getting more religious and less scientific, not the other way around.
You know your empire's crumbling when your political leaders start to be chosen by dynastic rules of succession.
And you especially know your empire's crumbling when the most idiotic child of one of the least accomplished leaders in its history is not only crowned as the next emperor, but is even revered for a time by most of the public as a great one.
Rome? Britain? Spain?
At this rate we'll be lucky to end up like Belgium.

While life in the U.S. for the average working person is going down the toilet and we struggle to balance our checkbooks, someone in Washington absconded with $10 billion.
Private contractors are making big bucks of off the Iraq war and, in many cases, they just submit a bill to the government and get paid for doing or providing nothing. If the truth were told, Weird Wally would like a gig like that. This $10 billion disappearing act occurred during a time when Republicans controlled both the White House and Congress and no one noticed. Although the Hearings in Washington were held yesterday (2-15-07), WW has heard little mention of it in the U.S. mainstream media and, as a matter of fact, WW learned of it through The Guardian, a newspaper published in the UK. Who is Ali al-Marri?
Don’t even trust our own government to get it right! WW doesn’t even want to deal with this stuff, but has to and WW has been sitting on this Amy Goodman interview for several days...

The possibility that President Bush may order an attack on Iran has been on Weird Wally’s radar screen for a long time. With our Navy moving major battle groups around in the area, something is happening. WW can only hope that what seems obvious is actually not the case. Right now, WW would rather believe what the Bush administration is saying about not opening up another front, instead of his own lying eyes.

OK, Weird Wally will be the first to admit to being a political news junkie, but lately, WW has taken no joy in the news.
As a matter of fact, even the mainstream media are scaring the shit out of WW.
So, what’s a nearly sane person to do?
Opt for some bread and a circus, of course.
And that is exactly what WW decided to do.
WW has started the HBO series of “Rome,” and giving himself some time for a “Rome,” marathon. WW will be back online within 24 to 48 hours.

But what about the Shroud of Turin?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shroud_of_Turin
Ok, WW requests a break on this one. Everybody knows that the image on the shroud is Jacques de Molay and why are we still going crazy over this shroud?

To supermarkets and restaurants near you.
Until recently, Weird Wally seldom stepped foot inside organic supermarkets and food boutiques. For WW, organic meant boring.
But the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration has approved that meat and milk from cloned animals, are ok for sale to consumers. Worse still, the products from cloned animals need not be labeled as such.
For WW, this approval means that he will be visiting organic supermarkets and restaurants more often. In other words, if WW doesn’t know exactly what he is buying, he’ll take his business to a place that can tell him.
Since cloning an animal is expensive, about $15,000 for a single dairy cow, only large and corporate farms can make use of the technology. But the FDA approval means that it will now be worth the expense. But as more people come to understand that the milk and meat they feed themselves and families, may come from a clone, the more they will avoid supermarkets and restaurants that can’t provide a guarantee that their food is clone free.

Weird Wally shudders to think what life would be like if the Republicans still controlled Congress because, Bush’s budget would sail through yet, it calls for an 11.3% increase in defense spending.
Democrats, meanwhile, are holding Hearings and asking questions. Even the mainstream media are no longer ignoring the obvious and seems to be growing a little backbone. The massive corruption in Washington is less and less becoming politics dirty little secret and most of us are pissed.
There are some, however, who still don’t get it. When I asked a few conservative friends, why they were so upset with Bill Clinton and not by Bush, they shrugged it off by saying that all politicians are crooks.
But what about the numbers behind this 11.3% shift in priorities? For one thing, there will be cuts of, at least, $66bn over the next five years to Medicare, the system that provides healthcare to the elderly. In addition, Bush wants to snag another $12bn from Medicaid, which provides healthcare for the poor.
So, let WW get this straight. Bush wants to expand healthcare to the elderly, poor and, otherwise, uninsured Americans?
Sounds like bullshit to WW!
Meanwhile, take a closer look…

WW posted this one a little over week ago, but thought it needed to be posted again.
In search of cheap, mind-numbing entertainment, Weird Wally found himself at a local video outlet, but nothing stood out. Just about ready to give up and go the library, instead WW chanced up a new release. The blurb sounded interesting but, no way, would “Sophie Scholl,” be mind-numbing. It’s a well-done take on a test of wills between a young German woman and the entire Nazi legal machine. Although WW despises the word “inspirational,” there isn’t any other way to describe it. Low key as it is, it’s a very intense story of a brother and sister and life in Munich in 1943.The thing is, the movie also speaks to our lives of today. Ever wonder what life would be like a few years down the road if the neocons ran this country?

The way Weird Wally sees it; Bush wants to do away with Social Security so that those of us who are not in the top one percent in the economic class system get less control and money. And, when put in that context, WW can understand where Bush, Cheney and the other neocons are coming from.

After all, if we age and are not alive and feeding the machine owned by the top one percent, what right do we have to live and breathe air?
What does WW wants to say about all of this…

Is it possible that Weird Wally could train his mind to change his brain?
If current research is any indication of the possibilities, WW’s answer would have to be yes.
During the past two years, empirical evidence has been busy shattering old beliefs. And the funny thing is, our brains were not hotwired by age two and, as a matter of fact, the wiring is capable of changing well into our seventies and beyond.
WW came across the audio of Science Friday, on National Public Radio and it’s worth the thirty-five minutes to listen it and learn about some amazing cutting-edge research.

Although initially published in November 2005, Weird Wally first saw it on Friday evening, after hearing of it from a friend.
It’s all about how our war in Iraq is all about oil and nothing much else and is a must read. To be honest, one might have a hard time believing what one reads, but you know that when there is smoke there is also fire, be it a simple flicker of a match flame or the massive burn of a forest fire. But one insight WW got from this article is, the more things change the more they remain the same, but over time, little bits of truths are revealed that might change our perceptions about who we are, as opposed to, who we thought we might have been.
http://www.tikkun.org/rabbi_lerner/news_item.2005-11-08.1681604982/view?searchterm=oil%20policy
After having read the above mentioned article, WW realizes that, for the time being at least, nothing else need be said except…

One thing Weird Wally is very certain of, if you don’t know what you’re looking at, you will never see it. And that is a major problem for people suffering from personality disorders and other kinds of mental illness. Although knee deep in problems caused by their behavior and choices, they still don’t see their problems. Or, at the very least, they don’t see themselves as the cause of their problems. But then again, we’re talking mental illness.
Now as far as WW is concerned, people with disorders and other perceptual problems with the way they see the world, are always going to cause problems for themselves and those who love them.
But what happens when people with worldview perceptual disorders get into power?
For one thing, we might go looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction in a foreign nation despite the fact that the weapons don’t exist. Worse yet, we might be the basic cause of a civil war and not be able to see it for what it is. The late Saddam Hussein may have been right because this is, in fact, “the mother of all wars.”

Although Weird Wally doesn’t much go to the Spiritual side of life, there are times when a little bit of the Spiritual goes a long way. And so it is that not only does WW acknowledge that We are all One, under the sun but, also that Thoughts Are Things.
To WW’s way of thinking, life is all about choice.
But not everybody can handle choice. And besides, choice requires follow through. Sometimes, it seems, that choice is nothing more than a New Years Resolution gone bad.
What do you think?
